A Day In The Life Of A Registered Behavior Technician At Unlocking The Spectrum

“I think that Unlocking the Spectrum does a great job of employing individuals that have a passion for the job. Also I would say that they do well in giving proper training to new hires so they feel secure.”

Adaire Ervin

“The path that led me to work with children with Autism Spectrum Disorder is very simple. My younger brother has Asperger’s, which is on the spectrum, so my whole life my family and I have done things differently. He is one of my best friends and has shown me to always look at things from a different perspective and to love and care for those that might be harder to understand. I chose this profession because after doing several presentations in college over Autism Spectrum Disorder, professors and other students pointed me in the right direction and informed me about it. I love that every day is a new adventure with these kiddos. These friends are always growing and changing. Whether it’s a child saying hi or their name for the first time, showing that they can count or say their ABCs, or even displaying proper hygiene routines that they’ve learned. I also think that Unlocking the Spectrum does a great job of employing individuals that have a passion for the job. They do well in giving proper training to new hires so they feel secure. To someone who wants to be a Registered Behavior Technician, I would say to have passion, patience, understanding, and adaptability to be successful in this profession.”

Kevin Sagarsee

“I love seeing the clients grow with age and skill as they become more and more able to communicate with one another, and also with others. Seeing the clients learn new skills is an enjoyable sight! I strive to help others and I felt like I would enjoy helping teach new skills to the children I work with. The supervisors at Unlocking The Spectrum are very helpful when aiding new hires in the training process. UTS does a great job helping clients reach their goals, whether that be helping in functional living skills, transitions to school, and gaining their motivation!”
